I’m interested in how people address notions of belief in their daily lived experience and how personal faith interplays between religion and visual art. My work draws upon symbolical references found in a range of artworks from the Middle Ages to the contemporary mass produced religious figures in souvenir shops. I am engaged in an exploration of how objects that relate to the heritage of religion have been visually constructed and handled in society. My practice is currently focussed on making numerous hand made porcelain sculptures. They are mostly a reconsideration of religious characters, replacing the typically refined porcelain ornaments with somewhat ugly and disturbing ones.
