Ali Farrelly
Ali Farrelly is an Irish pedestrian and artist. Ali’s approach to making is full of charm, chaos and risk. Her sculptures are charged with the secret intentions of an object’s internal world that cannot be accessed by humans. In a distinctive way of gathering material, she travels long distances to collect unwanted objects from strangers she meets on websites such as Freecycle.org and Gumtree.com. Ali uses a combination of traditional sculpture techniques and unusual self-taught approaches to rewiring and rebuilding electrical objects to produce her kinetic sculptures. As well as breathing new life into defunct and rejected objects using motors and metal, Ali gifts her graceless sculptures with their very own POV through robust action cameras, resulting in a strange filmography – directed by her sculptures.
