Megan Lucille Boettcher
Originally from the States, Megan Lucille (b. 1991) has spent her adult life quite literally around the world, journeying toward continuously better becoming while shedding her conservative upbringing and deep-rooted indoctrination through personal experiences and creative practice. Working in multifaceted creation amidst a variety of media, Megan Lucille’s explorations revolve around her desire to best communicate and discuss the difficult subject matters at the centre of her practice. Her body the nucleus of her work, she draws from a reservoir of personal experiences as her catalyst, challenging her own vulnerability as she confronts dynamics of power by exposing traumatic histories and experiences and the intimate places their residues reside. Transmuting the ‘ugly’ into something ‘beautiful’ is her continuous task, forever evolving and finding new ways to make her work accessible to those who wish to experience it. Through her work, Megan Lucille seeks to enable a process of healing and encourage discussion of shared experience, fostering broader conversations around personal, communal, and societal transgressions while desiring action, from which healing and change may emerge as potential outcomes.
Megan Lucille has performed and exhibited internationally, including Berlin (Germany), Tokyo (Japan), Glasgow (Scotland), Hsinchu (Taiwan), Joutsa (Finland), and her hometown in Minnesota (USA). She also continues to explore exhibition and performance through various digital platforms.
