Conor Kelly
Conor Kelly (b.Cork 1980) graduated from the University of Ulster in 2002. Recent exhibitions include The Weirding And The Uncanny, Glasgow School of Art (2008), A Brief History Of Wormroot, Engine Room Gallery, Belfast (2007), and Flock, Bezalel Academy, Tel Aviv (2008). His previous works have traced fictitious or semi-fictitious histories through drawing, painting and print-making. The works on show at Tramway take their lead from real events and are loosely titled The Vinegar Hill Variations. Based on the heady revolutionary activity that took place in Ireland in the summer of 1798, these works attempt to retrace or recount events past in the hope of unravelling and reassembling certain dominant representational systems.
