Sunghoon Hong
I am interested in the differences between the kinds of reality constructed in imagery, and the kinds of reality and types of object encountered in everyday life. My work is about documented and recorded images and texts and context of these. More specifically, I am fascinated with how history and culture are framed, who is doing the framing, and how these factors affect shaping or perceiving reality.
When a fixed object is placed in an unexpected situation or environment, I believe, it opens up new proposals or questions. By re-arranging and re-photographing collected objects or images, my main purpose is to explore the nature of imagery and conditions in which reality can be perceived or be rendered discernible.
